- Abstract
- The socio-political discussion and polemical talk-show provides an ample opportunities for conducting a «verbal battle», or an eristic contest of opponents. The eristic controversy is beyond the classical laws of argumentation: its goal is the assertion by any means of its position and the achievement of victory at any cost. Such strategies as self-affirmation, constructing of the image of enemy, discrediting of opponent, realized with the use of sophisms and manipulative methods peculiar to eristica, have become an integral part of modern social and political discourse.
