Abstract
The article deals with linguistic units expressing the concept of «laughter», analyses their functioning in L.N. Andreev's novel «Red laughter». Particular attention is paid to the concept of «Red laughter». In combination with other lexemes this phrase is used to create writer's artistic world, to convey the emotional state of the characters and the environment in which they are located.
