Abstract
The article discusses the use of structures, «it was and always will be», «it was and is everywhere» in reasoning and argumentation. These constructions are used in the speech when the speaker is seeking to present the situation as essentially non-unique, generalized, taking place at different times and at different points in space. These constructions are analyzed on the material of the Russian National Corpus. In the context of temporary adverbs predicate acquires a qualitative meaning as permanent feature. A private judgment is converted into a general one, the specific situation is described as a generalized, linear time is interpreted as cyclic, or gnomic.
