Abstract
Causal prepositions in the Russian language differ stylistically: this group of prepositions is uneven in the different speech styles because of their various functions. Among them only a few are stylistically neutral and therefore they function as in the spoken and in written discourse, and the rest of them is mainly used in the written language. This is the primary result of active development of business letters in the XVIII century. This article clarifies the possibility of functions of the causal prepositions in a particular style of speech in the Russian language and divides the scope of their use.
