- Abstract
- The article examines the concept of «sorrow» as it is understood by Old and New Testament writers. The author proves that when we attempt to translate twenty or so Greek and Hebrew words used to express different dimensions of «sorrow», we inevitably lose important meanings of original words. It happens because those meanings depend to a great extent on the particular context of the narrative, the cultural setting of the Bible and the spiritual understanding of particular words. Applying the hermeneutic analysis of the text, the author provides an insightful interpretation of the concept of «sorrow».
