- Abstract
- The problems of the methodology of social research with the use of mathematical apparatus are discussed. As a basis, it is proposed to use the relationship between empirical and theoretical sociology in order to ensure the integration of substantive (qualitative) and formal (quantitative) approaches. As a means of such integration, we consider the structural and quantitative analysis of the subject of research, which involves the hierarchical ordering of social relations and relations and their theoretically justified representation in a quantitative form, taking into account the multidimensionality and multilevelness of sociological knowledge. A scheme of complex analysis of empirical data using statistical methods, focused on the identification of causal relationships between social processes, is proposed.
