Res divinae и res saeculares в восприятии папы Льва Великого. К предыстории возникновения «геласианской теории»

Аннотация

Статья посвящена анализу двух понятий, встречающихся в сочинениях римского папы Льва Великого (440–461): «дела божественные» (res divinae), которые, по мнению папы, относятся к Церкви и управляются «священниками» (sacerdotes), и «дела мирские» (res saeculares), которые относятся к ведению римского императора. Эти понятия, трактовку которых первым из римских понтификов предложил Лев, в дальнейшем были восприняты одним из его преемников Геласием I (492–496) и легли в основу представленной последним системы взглядов, обыкновенно называемой геласианской теорией, из которой впоследствии выросла и средневековая теория двух мечей. В статье исследуются время и политические обстоятельства, при которых папа Лев сформулировал свой взгляд на разделение «дел мирских» и «дел божественных». Необходимость указать на различие обеих сфер возникла в результате неудовлетворительных для папства результатов Эфесского и Халкидонского соборов 449 и 451 г., созванных императорами Феодосием II (407–450) и Маркианом (450–457). Папа Лев сделал первую в истории папства попытку оспорить императорские решения, принятые на этих соборах, утверждая, что к компетенции императора по преимуществу относятся дела светские, в то время как дела духовные имеют другое свойство и должны управляться священниками (sacerdotes). При этом папа Лев игнорировал те полномочия римского императора in sacris (в священных делах), которые последний имел как гарант и исполнитель публичного права. Попытка папы не была успешной: к концу своего понтификата он вполне согласился с руководящей ролью императора в церковных делах.
