- Abstract
The article analyzes the development of J. Toschenko of the idea of a precariate primarily in relation to modern Russian reality. First of all, such qualities of society that are necessary for its education as its injury are highlighted. The category “injury society” is introduced. Such a theoretical move naturally follows from an analysis of the post-socialist transformation of society. At the same time, the author is arguing with Toshchenko, for whom the socio-political processes are the reasons for the formation of such a society. For the author of the article, this is only a reflection of deeper socio-economic transformations caused by the transition from one level of development of productive forces to another, a qualitatively new one. Moreover, such a transition is fraught not only with negative aspects associated with growing uncertainty about tomorrow, with the fears of workers in traditional professions, who make up a significant part of the middle class, but also gives impetus to creative incentives and the development of a “creative precariate”. In addition, if Toshchenko, following the Standing, determines the appearance of precariation of society primarily by neoliberal politics, then this is hardly applicable in Russia. Russian economic policy is more likely hybrid and represents a combination of some neoliberal principles with ever-deepening monopolization - in fact, the antithesis of neoliberalism. This combination exacerbates social inequality to a greater degree, and expands the area of population precariation
