Abstract

The article is a brief outline of the life and scientific work of Professor Vlas Zhukov, the author of «The Dictionary of Russian proverbs and sayings». It emphasizes the special place and importance of Vlas Zhukov’s dictionary in the history of the Russian lexicography. The author’s paremiological concept is illustrated by fragments of exemplary dictionary entries.
