- Abstract
- In the article are brought the results of North-Western Priladozh'ya toponymy research the cultural centers of that are an island Valaam and the city Sortavala (Serdovol' Serdobol'). Plenty of Serdobol' - Sortavala toponyms variants and explanations of their etymology hampers determination of word being historically the primary name of the modern city Sortavala.
