- Abstract
- The author of the article argues that philology has its own scientific subject, different from the "union of linguistics and literary criticism", offers its own definitions of philology as a science, based on the Russian scientific tradition and the most authoritative views of modern scientists. In the light of the subject of philology and "verbal sciences", the evolution of the terms language - word - speech is also considered.
