The article continues the story of the life and work of I.I. Sreznevsky as a teacher, thinker, whose creative path was associated with the formation of national science. The author of the article presents an extensive commentary on fragments from a forgotten book by I.I. Sreznevsky "On the study of the native language in general and especially in childhood", as well as some fragments of his letters to relatives.
