- Abstract
- The article analyzes the role of social networks in modern society. Illustrations are given regarding their role in political mobilization of the population (the election campaign of Barack Obama, the “twitter revolutions” of 2009 in Kishenev and Tehran, Russian protest movements, including the organization of rallies on Bolotnaya square). The article describes a trial study carried out by the author in relation to the “community of protest actions " in Moscow. Participants of protest groups in social networks were typologized according to their practices of using social platforms and their activity in real life.
