- Abstract
- This article describes approaches to measuring generalized trust. The limitations of the traditional question are analyzed: “Generally speaking, do you think that most people can be trusted or should you be very careful when dealing with people?” Based on the materials of the fifth wave of the world values survey (2005-2008), alternative indicators of generalized trust are tested and it is demonstrated that the combination of the traditional question and the question of trusting strangers provides more accurate information when building international ratings.
