Abstract
The article describes the stages of the history of Leningrad / St. Petersburg sociology and the structure of the social network of St. Petersburg sociologists at the present time. Are “scientific schools” of scientists United by research interests and intellectual identity the main element of this structure? Conclusion:social networks are behind the coordination of St. Petersburg sociology, they do not consist of clusters that have a pronounced theoretical identity, which wecould call “schools”.
