Abstract
The Huns who invaded Asia Minor and Syria in 395-396 had been inhabitants of Ciscaucasia. Their troops were summoned by the Iberian king Pharsman IV who had escaped from Constantinople in 395 and taken the throne of Iberia (Kartli). The Huns crossed the borders of the Byzantine Empire at the Darial Gorge and moved on through the Kartli Kingdom and Chaldia. The territory controlled by the Sassanids was not touched by this invasion.
