Abstract
The article describes the concept of the Ukrainian revolution of 1917–1921 in the European context. The formation of political myths and ideology of the Ukrainian national movement is also analysed. It is concluded that the Ukrainian revolution was a war for independence and liberation movement, which was typical of «small» nations in Central and Eastern Europe.
