Abstract
Similarly to majority of advanced economies (and in contrast to the USA) Canada's health care system is based on the principles of universal accessibility to a wide range of medical services. The article analyzes specific features, strengths and weaknesses of the Canadian system. Special attention is paid to primary care based on the family doctor model, as well as to national debate on possible reforms in health care organization and financing.
