Abstract
An attempt is made to justify the need for multicultural education. It is shown that the social functions of national languages and cultures are narrowed both at the level of interethnic and intraethnic interaction. This is due to the perception of the majority of the population about the low demand for national languages for social self-realization of the individual, poor knowledge of local culture.
